William O’Shields came to campus as the first male Health and Physical Education teacher in 1947. Where he was immediately put in charge of the athletic program. He coached football, cross country, basketball and track and field.
In 2005 the stadium was re-named O'Shields-Stevenson Stadium in honor of William O'Shields and James Stevenson.
