Clyde West was a member of the varsity and basketball team and varsity track team whila a student at Cheyney. After graduating from Cheyney, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service where he remained for more than thirty-five years. Clyde continued to play ball and joined the Industrial League. His team won the championshipfor 21 consecutive years. Clyde was selected as the Most Valuable Player for 15 years in a row. West also played on the Senior Championship Team at the Moylan Recreation Center from 1959-1963 and played with the Central Stars, a semi professional basketball team.
Clyde is an active member of Deliverance Evangelistic Church where he serves as a deacon. The church holds an annual basketball torunament and sponsors a youth basketball league. Clyde is actively involved with both.
