Mr. Jimai Springfield graduated from Cheyney University in 2000 with a bchelors of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies. He was a four starting guard (1993-97) and captain. He led Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Champions. In 1995, he was named PSAC in steal with 3.5 per game. Those numbers were good enough to rank him seveth in the country in steals per game. In 1996, he proved he was no one year wonder by having another outstanding season. Once again he led the team in steals with 3.3 average and ranked 11th in the country. He owns the school record for steals in career. His career averages includes 9.6 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, 4.4 assists per gameand 3.4 steals per game.
Springfield graduated from Chester High School in 1992 and earned All-Delco honors in Basketball, Football and Baseball. He is listed in Who's Who Among American High Schools.
After exhausting his elibility, Springfield coached varsity boys' basketball for two seasons at Village Charter School where he was also a physical education teacher. He was the youngest coach to participate in the District Championship game and earned District 1A Coach of the Year honors as his team fell in the District 1A Champioship Final. He was runner-up to the legendary Fred Pickett for Delaware Country Coach of the Year.
For the past six years Springfield had worked for Alternatives Unlimited where he is a Behavioral Specialist. He also continues to work for the Delaware Country Juvenile Detention Center as a Senior Detention Officer.
Springfield currently resides in Chester.
