Gregory Harris graduated from Cheyney in 1970 with a BS in Education.  While at CU Harris was a member of the Football and Track teams.  He was also the manager of the basketball team during his off season.
On the grid iron, Harris played both offensive and defensive line.  He was a member of the squad that recorded the University’s first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory; a 15-12 nail biter against Kutztown in 1965.  One year later he was part of the team that recorded the Wolves first winning season.  Cheyney concluded the 1966 campaign with a mark of 4-3, securing the win with a 35-6 victory over Gallaudet.  It was the first time Cheyney scored more than 30 points in 19 seasons.
As a member of the Track and Field squad, Harris excelled at the Shot Putt.  He earned All-PSAC honors in 1965 becoming the first CU shot putter ever to receive the recognition.
Harris went onto graduate school at Long Island University and Brooklyn College.  He went on to teach in Newark, NJ and later Philadelphia.  While in grad school he played semi-pro for the Brooklyn Golden Knights (1972-76).  Football continued to stay with him as he went on to coach in Police Athletic League in New York and later in Philadelphia.  He also had several stints as a coach in the Philadelphia Public League which included stops at Central HS (1998-2000), West Philadelphia HS (2001-03), South Philadelphia HS (2003-04) and Communications Tech (2005-06).  He returned to the University in 2007 as a volunteer Assistant Coach for one season.
Harris was instrumental in organizing the “Friends of Cheyney Football” in 1992.  The group credits itself with raising more than $10,000 and eventually developed into the modern day “C” Club.  He continues to support the program donating cases of Gatorade every year and has developed a website, Whistletopps Sports Network that films and broadcasts game over the internet including several Cheyney football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball games.
