Elaine has devoted more than over 30 yeasr at Cheyney University, The first nine years in the payroll department and the last 21 years in the athletic department.
Miller was responsible for scheduling ticket sales and being the telephone voice for the department, also being resposible for keeping up with the coaches.
She served as the Director of Athletics right hand (wo)man as well as supporting the coaches and student athletes. During her tenure, Miller served under eight Presidents, six Directors of Athletics, and Coaches too numerous to name.
Miller has especially fond mempries of former basketball coaches, John Chancey and Vivian Stringer, both architects of great winning teams at Cheyney. Coach Chancey, "Coach Chancey was just so special". He really cared about the students. Miller said, "Both of them were caring and discipline professionals, Im still in touch with Coach Chancey."
Miller also served as a touchstone for students, who often drop in to discuss their classes and professors. She says that she encourges then to take advantage of their professor's office hours. She is also still in contact with many students who graduated years ago. "I've met some terrific kids iver the years," She say, adjusting a colection of photos of former students.
The three Miller children are graduates of Cheyney with degrees in math, biology, and business. Her husband, Dr. 'Newt' Miller retired from Cheyney in 1988. To date The Miller are the largest single financial contributor to the athletic program.
