Patricia Bartley-Walker was an honor graduate from Cheyney State College in 1976 having represented the University on the tennis and basketball teams each year she was enrolled. She played for legendary coach C. Vivian Stringer where she was a two year starter, a sophomore co- captain and junior captain. Those teams were a fast break, very high scoring offense and stingy on the defense end. Even though she was sidelined with a knee injury her senior year, she began to develop her coaching skills as a student assistant coach. On the tennis court, Bartley-Walker played # 2 singles and first doubles her freshmen year before taking over the top spot as a sophomore. She continued to play first singles and doubles as a junior and senior. She also was a three year captain.

As a tennis player, she was named Most Improved as a freshman and sophomore. Later in her career she went on to be named the teams' MVP and was named to the Dean's List. The two sport athlete was also named Most Improved after her sophomore basketball season.

After earning her Masters at Springfield College, she came back to Cheyney in the early 80's to coach three sports before moving to the academic side of campus. he coached tennis, went to its last Division I Final Four in 1984. A long time professor in the Department of Recreation, Bartley-Walker taught and ran the Intramural program. She also had a leadership role in the NCAA's National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) as Assistant and Activity Director. Her camp was one of the top 5 camps in the country of over 500 camps.

Pat continues to give back to the community, running Society's Promise Program, a mentoring program in the City of Chester through the Chester Chapter Cheyney Alumni Association. She has been the chairwoman for over 20 years. She is also very active with her Holy Temple COGIC serving in many capacities, including Women's Dept. and Camp COGIC summer camp.

Pat met George H. Walker, her "beau at Cheyney U" , they married and together have two young adult childern. Both son, George, Jr. and daughter, Michelle are graduates of West Chester University. Mr. and Mrs. Walker currently reside in Wallingford, PA.
