Jones is a 1988 graduate of Cheyney University, where hw was a standout on the basketball tean and three year captain for the Wolves. He is a member of 1,000 point club and was part of the last Cheyney team that played in the Final Four (1986-87). Upon graduation, Jones put his Bachelor of Science in Speical Education to good use. He took a position as a Mental Health Counselor with JMC Associates in his native Washington, DC. After eight years he moved on to KOBA (?) as a Youth Counselor. From there he became a Behavior Coordinator of PSI Services. Jones is currently a Speical Education Teacher at Stanton Elementary School, a position he has held for the past eight years.
Jones is also very active in his community, having coached youth basketball, soccer and flag football for eight years. He is married to Erica Dortch-Jones and the father of a daughter, Kristin, and sons Sydney and Eric.
