Mr. Edward Williams played basketball for four years while at Cheyney. In 1962, as team captain, he broke the conference scoring record as well as the record for field goals and foul shots scored in a season. On the season he tailed 381 points in 15 games averaging more than 25 points per contest. The pervious mark was set four years earlier by Bloomburg's Dick Lloyd (358 points). For his efforts he was named to the All-State team and the Wolves Most Vaualbe Player.

Upon graduating, Williams had standout career as an educator. He was the first Cheyney Alumnus to hold the high ranking administrative position of Chief Academic Officer in the Philadelphia School District and the first Cheyney Alumnus to become an Executive Advisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

He earned the Dr. Rose Lindenbaum Award for Teacher of the Year, the Dr. Rose Lindenbaum Award for Principal of the Year, the Dr. Ruth Hayre Award for Outstanding Administrative Leadership as the Regional Superintendent (Central West Region), the Schoolmen's Club Award for Outstanding Administrative Leadership and the DR. Marcus Foster Award for Outstanding Administrative Leadership.

Williams worked with the University Education Department, actively encouraging, recruiting and developing student teachers' job-embedded training experinces for their respective Certification Programs in the Philadelphia Schools. He also partnered with Dr. George Eaves, a professor at CU to successfully implement a high quality professional development Ceritification (Elementary / Secondary) program for aspiring administrators in the Philadelphia School District.

Williams is also a memeber of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., a member of the Zion Baptist Church, Men of BACA and Concerned Black Men.
