Charles Campbell was the captain of the track and field team in 1960, The year he graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.In 1959, Campbell won the sprint double at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships, winning both the 100 and 220 yards dashes. The following year he earned the gold medal in the 100 at the conference championships.

Campbell has always been a strong proponent of eduaction. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Eduaction, Master of Education in Educational Administratino and Master of Science in Adult and Continuing Education. He also holds a Masters' Equivalency Professional Certificate and an Elementary and Secondary School Principal Certificate.

Campbell taught in the public school system for 30 years. He was also an instructor and manager for Center for Literacy in Philadelphia for eight years. Campbell has been an Adjunct Professor at Cheyney University and Wilmington College. He is currently the Assistant to the Dean of Graduate Studies at Cheyney University.
