A 2000 graduate of Cheyney University, Simmons was a three sport athlete. He starred on the wrestling mat, football field and track. His freshman year he was named Freshman Athlete of the Year. He was an All-PSAC selection in track as a sprinter. One of his greatest athletic accomplishments was being a four time NCAA wrestling qualifier. In his collegiate career he has amassed over 75 victories.

Simmons graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. He went on to get a Master of Education in Leadership and Administration in 2002 from Wilmington College. This spring he expects to earn a Bachelor of Art degree in Television and Video Production from Wilmington College..

Simmons taught 4th grade at Marion T. Academy in Wilmington. For the 2002-03 school year he taught 6th and 7th grade math at the World Communications Charter School in Philadelphia. Today he is the Technology Coordinator at Marion T. Academy.

Simmons is also an enterpreneur. He started an internet company (www.theflowlive.com) and the website devoted to emerging artists of music and film. He has also co-produced a pair of short films: "Paperless" and "He Got Billz," both of which have appeared at numerous film festivals.
