Keon Hughes was chosen as the center on the first-team in the PSAC East and Senior
Keyson Dingle was chosen as a member of the Second-team on the Defensive line, as voted on by the PSAC–East coaches and announced by the league offices on Wednesday afternoon.
Hughes, earned First-Team East honors in 2017, after being selected by the coaches as the center on the second-team in 2016. The Staten Island, N.Y. native was also a third-team selection on the Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Area Team in 2016.
Hughes, who started all 22-games since arriving on campus, stepped into a veteran offensive line in 2016 with four seniors, was the captain of the unit in 2017 that featured all-new starters at each position other than center, that did not allow a sack until the third game of the season, and put up 56 points in the first half against Lincoln.
Dingle opened the 2017 season with six solo tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble and was named PSAC-East Defensive Player of the Week following the Wolves 56-28 victory over Lincoln in the Battle of the First.
The Bayonne, N.J. native, who was a four-year member of the Cheyney defense, was a consistent contributor with at least 55 tackles in each of the past three seasons. He finished 2017 with 57 total tackles, including nine solo and four assisted tackles for loss, four sacks, a forced fumble and four pass break-ups.
Dingle made 119 solo and 89 assisted tackles in 43 games at Cheyney, for 208 total tackles. He accumulated 18 solo and 11 assisted tackles for loss (23.5 for his career), with five solo and two assisted sacks, six pass break-ups and three forced fumbles.
