Cheyney Falls to PSAC Rival Kutztown

The Wolves (0-4:0-1) dropped their fourth game of the season falling to Kutztown (2-2:1-0) 34-0.

The teams traded punts on each of their first two possessions, before Golden Bears quarterback Chad Barton orchestrated a seven play 55 yard drive that was capped with an 11 yard pass to Kodi Reed for the games first points. After a failed PAT Kutztown led 6-0.  In the closing moments of the first half the Wolves marched all the way down to the Golden Bears one yard line before turning the ball over. 

In the second half it was all Kutztown as the Golden Bears scored 28 unanswered points.  KU scored on their first two possessions of the third quarter to take a 20-0 lead.  The Golden Bears also posted touchdowns on their first two possession of the fourth quarter. 

The Cheyney rushing attack continues to struggle as the Wolves only amassed 19 yards rushing the ball.  Marice Tillman was the Wolves leading rusher with 63 yards on 13 carries.  Anwar Mathis recorded his first start of the season as the Wolves quarterback.  He was 15 of 26 for 197 yards and two interceptions.  Wide out Jowan Lewis-Kearse led Cheyney with six receptions for 84 yards.  Shaquille Benjamin led the CU defense with nine tackles, 2 pass break-ups and an interception return of 46 yards. 

KU running backs Craig Reynolds and Darrell Scott scampered for 183 yards on 22 carries and 2 touchdowns.  Signal caller Chad Barton was 15 for 22 for 162 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception.  Kodi Reed was his favorite target as the wide receiver caught seven passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. 

Next week the Golden Bears host Millersville and Wolves travel to Bloomsburg.
