Wolves and Knights Soaked Through

Cheyney (0-2) traveled to Erie, PA and fell 44-6 to Gannon (2-0) in PSAC football action.  Playing in a steady heavy rain storm with 15 mph winds the Wolves and Knights slushed their way through three hours of collegiate football.

Gannon, the pre-season favorite to win the PSAC West, scored on their first possession as quarterback Liam Nadler completed a pass to Jesstin Hamm for 14 yards and after a Keith Holland PAT led 7-0.  On the Wolves first drive, Cheyney was able to march 15 plays but turned the ball over on the Knights one yard line.   On the next play the Wolves were able to force a turnover and took over on the Gannon 36.  Four plays later Cheyney's Jalen Jana rushed for 29 yards to put the Wolves on the scoreboard.  The Wolves went for two by but were not successful.  It would turn out to be Cheyney's only points on the afternoon. 

Gannon added a touchdown early in the second quarter and took a 14-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.  Cheyney would turn the ball over on their first possession of the second half and Gannon picked up the fumble and returned it for a touchdown.  On their next possession the Wolves were able to march 13 plays but gave up the ball on downs.  Gannon would add another touchdown near the end of the third quarter to make the score 28-6.  The Knights added two touchdowns and a safety in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring. 

The Wolves dominated the time of possession.  Cheyney controlled the ball for 37:32 but were whistled for 12 penalties.

Brandon French paced the Wolves rushing attack with 92 yards on 22 carries. 

Julian Feggins led the Cheyney defense with 8 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a half sack. 

Cheyney is back in action next Saturday afternoon at Clarion.
