The Wolves dropped their home opener 56-0 to the Crimson Hawks of IUP. Senior first year quarterback Blaze Wasserleben led the Wolves attack. The native of Willow Grove , PA rushed for 21 yards on 12 carries and was 9 of 17 through the air for 97 yards.

The Wolves struggled on offense; producing only 107 yards and turning the ball over five times. “It’s difficult to be successful when you turn the ball over,” commented Cheyney Head Coach Ken Lockard. “We were on the other side of the turnover battle last week and came away with the victory. This IUP is really good. They are better than the Cal teams we faced the previous two years.”

The Wolves never quit and battled to the final whistle. “I’m proud of the way our guys didn’t give up. Blaze is maturing as a quarterback every week. His decision making and passing ability get better every day.”

IUP struck early and often as they posted six first half touchdowns en route to the victory. Harvie Tuck Montay Green and Alex Holland each had a pair TDs. The trio combined for 232 yards.

The Wolves defense was led by Shannon Burch and Khalil Neal. Burch recorded 9 tackles while Neal was credited with 8 and 2 tackles for loss.

The Wolves continue the home stand next week as they open PSAC East play against LIU Post. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 pm.
