Cheyney fell 15-7 to Lock Haven in the football season finale for both teams.
The Wolves were led by running back Marcus Jones. The junior from Washington, DC rushed for 135 yards on 19 carries and the Wolves only touchdown of the day. The Cheyney score came early in the fourth quarter on an 11 yard rush by Jones, capping an 11 play, 70 yard drive.
Isaiah Fleming led the Cheyney defense with 13 tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks for 12 yards.
Lock Haven answered on their next possession with a 23 yard field goal by Noah Heimer to give the Eagles a 15-7 lead with 4:43 remaining. Cheyney was unable to get a first down on their next possession and time ran out.
Lock Haven took the opening kick-off and marched down the field to the Cheyney one-yard before the Wolves Shadeed Cheeseboro, forced a fumble which was recovered on the Wolves one-yard line. The Wolves drive stalled and Cheyney was forced to punt from their own end-zone only to have Tyler Wilkinson fumble at the Cheyney 10-yard line. However the Wolves recovered the ball in the Cheyney end-zone and Lock Haven was awarded a safety. The Eagles would put three more points on the board thanks to the foot of Alex Boumerhi's successful 37 yard field goal on Lock haven's first possession of the second quarter.
The score remained 5-0 heading into the fourth quarter. Lock Haven added to the lead on their first possession of the fourth quarter when Beau Swales found the end-zone for Lock Haven's only touchdown of the afternoon. Cheyney's score came after the Eagles touchdown.
LHU's Brandon Brader led the Eagles attack with 110 rushing yards on 23 carries. Quarterback Jarrett Kratzer was 10-19 for 127 yards. His favorite target was Bryce Stambaugh. Stambaugh got six passes for 192 yards. The LHU victory snapped a 52 game losing streak, the longest in the NCAA.
