CHEYNEY, Pa. – Visiting East Stroudsburg closed the first half with a 19-3 run to take a commanding 54-35 lead en route to a 95-74 victory over the Cheyney University men's basketball team in PSAC East action, as the teams made-up a snowed out contest from January 8, Monday Night inside Cope Hall.
Jeff Lewis led the Wolves (2-20, 2-16, PSAC E) with 16 points and seven rebounds, Imir Bailey matched his season-high with 12 points and Cliff St. Juste added 10 points for Cheyney.
Six Warriors (17-5, 14-4 PSAC E) reached double figures in scoring led by Josh Williams with 14 points.
ESU jumped out to a 28-18 lead, but the Wolves responded with a 14-7 run to cut the deficit down to three 35-32 with 6:15 to play in the first half.
Kyle Parker started the comeback with a layup and scored six points during the run, Rodney Jones made a three-point shot and Bailey contributed with a layup.
The Warriors methodically pulled away at the free-throw line as they made 21 shots from the charity stripe in 28 attempts in the first half including 11 made free-throws in the deciding run to close the half, which was only interrupted by a three-point shot from Lewis.
The Wolves could get no closer in the second half.
Dikemba Amugo scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds, Zahir Stewart also scored seven points and Parker finished with six as did Jalen Branch.
The Wolves will entertain Shippensburg on Wednesday night with the tipoff scheduled for 7:30 inside Cope Hall as they continue a five-game home-stand to close out the season.
