Cheyney University Men's and Women's basketball will take the long bus ride to Mansfield, Pa. to take on the Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon in PSAC East action Inside Decker Gymnasium..
The Lady Wolves (3-14, 3-13 PSAC E) will look to avenge a 62-57 defeat to the Mounties on January 6 inside Cope Hall. Cheyney is currently in eighth-place in the PSAC East but only trail the sixth-place teams' Lock Haven and Kutztown by one victory in an attempt to earn its first playoff birth since the 2008-09 season.
Jr. TaKayla Ellis is tied for second-place all-time in made three-point shots at Cheyney, with 101. Ellis went 3-of-6 from beyond the arc on Wednesday at East Stroudsburg to crack the century mark and move into a tie with Latoya Showell (2002-05) and Monica Haynes (1991-95). The trio trail only Martina Randall, who made 108 shots from beyond the arc from 2005-09 in three-point shots made in women's basketball history at Cheyney.
Mansfield (4-16, 2-14 PSAC E) sits in ninth place in the East and looks to continue it recent dominance over Cheyney, having captured the last four meetings.
The Lady Wolves will wear its pink uniforms in all games in the month of February in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
