LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Host Lock Haven University jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter en route to a 62-0 victory over Cheyney Saturday afternoon in PSAC east action inside Hubert Jack Stadium.
WR Yvesner Ferdinand caught a career-high eight passes for a career-high 106 yards, but the Wolves (1-5, 0-3 PSAC E) were shutout for the first time this season, to end a streak of 10 straight games scoring a touchdown.
Kyle Knight rushed for 181 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bald Eagles (1-5, 1-2 PSAC E) to its first win of the season.
Terez Franklin made two interceptions for Cheyney, Keyson Dingle forced a fumble and registered eight solo and on assisted tackle. Quindon Stinson recovered a fumble.
Lock Haven intercepted three passes returning one for a touchdown and also returned a fumble for a touchdown.
Esaie Batoula led the Wolves with nine solo tackles while Samuel Anojulu was credited with six solo, two assisted and one tackle for a loss.
Lock Haven rushed for 460 yards and six touchdowns.
Cheyney used three quarterbacks during the contest with each throwing one interception.
Dominick Trautz, who had his personal streak of throwing at least one touchdown in five consecutive games stopped, was the starting and completed 12 passes in 26 attempts, for 104 yards. Chad Palmer went 7-of-16 for 55 yards and Justis Jacobs was 3-of-5 for 41 yards.
Cheyney is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Shippensburg at 1:00 PM.
