CHEYNEY, Pa. – So. Quinniea Gross set career-high's with 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead The Cheyney University women's basketball team its first home victory of the season 75-65 over visiting Lock Haven University Wednesday night inside Alfred Cope Hall.

So. TaKayla Ellis matched Gross with 18 points, dished out a game-high six assists and was credited with three steals and Sr. Amber Genwright connected on all 11 of her free-throw attempts and scored a season-high 13 points for the Wolves (2-8, 2-8 PSAC E).

Madison McHale led Lock Haven (6-8, 3-7 PSAC E) with a game-high 22 points and Lysa Mealing, the leagues' leading rebounder, added 14 points and 18 rebounds.

The Lady Wolves who struggled from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter In its last home game that eventually led to a five-point loss to Mansfield, went 9-of-9 from the line in the final 1:35 to turn a 64-61 game into a 75-65 victory with an 11-4 run to close the game.

Genwright made two from the charity stripe to push the lead to five, then Ellis found Gross for a layup and a foul, her free-throw made the score 69-61.After a layup by Mealing cut the lead to six, Genwright made four in a row and Ellis converted on two more for the final score.

Gross went 7-for-11 from the field and 4-of-7 from the line, while grabbing eight offensive and eight defensive boards. Ellis made 3-of-4 from beyond the arc included in her 6-of-12 shooting from the field and went 3-of-4 from the line.

So. Marlon Herring added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Genwright was a career-best 11-for-11 from the line with three assists.

Cheyney heads down the road to take on West Chester on Saturday afternoon with the tipoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
