CHEYNEY, Pa. -
Khaalis Carter registered a career-high 14 points, but the visitors from the California, Pennsylvania used a stifling defense to defeat Cheyney University 68-53 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's basketball action Friday night inside Alfred Cope Hall.
The Wolves (1-5, 0-4 PSAC E) managed only 22 points in the first half and trailed by nine at the break 31-22.
Richard Smith recorded several dunks and controlled the interior with four blocks and several altered shots, to go along with a game-high 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Vulcans (3-5, 2-3 PSAC W).
Cheyney cut the lead down five at 42-37 with 10:08 remaining following a personal six-point run from

With the Cope Hall crowd in a frenzy after a steal and layup by Davis, Smith responded with back to back thunderous dunks as Cal would build lead to 12.
Carter ended the run with a jumper and Basir Fulmore hit a three-point shot to make it a 49-42 game with 8:35 left on the clock.
Luka Andjusic (17 pts) answered with a three-point shot, then another Smith Dunk after a steal. The Vulcans scored the next 15 points to put the game away.
