Four Cheyney (13-12:11-10) players netted double figures to lead the Wolves to a 79-68 victory over Shippensburg (7-18:5-16). Jason Sabb led Cheyney with 22 points on 8-12 shooting and five steals. Rashaad Slappy chipped in 20 points along with a team best nine rebounds. Deshawn Curtis and Calvin Brown added 13 and 10 points respectively. For the second game in a row, Brandon Norfleet dished out a career high nine assists.
Cheyney built up a seven point lead during the first half but let the lead slip to two (36-34) at half-time. The Raiders scored the first five points of the second half to take a three point lead. With the Wolves trailing by one, Cheyney went on a 15-4 run to push the lead to double digits for the first time. A Sabb three pointer with 8:14 remaining gave the Wolves a 64-49 lead. However, the Raiders would not go away easily. Shippensburg answered with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to seven with 4:55 to play but would not get any closer. Norfleet stopped the run with a three pointer to push the lead back to double figures with 3:32 remaining. The Wolves shot an impressive 16-27 (59%) from the field in the second half to help secure the victory.
Edgar Dylan paced the Raiders with 24 points.
Cheyney will host West Chester on Wednesday night in the season finale. The Wolves will recognize the four seniors on the squad in a pre-game ceremony.
