The Lady Wolves were out for revenge trying to avenge a loss earlier in the season at East Stroudsburg. Cheyney had snapped a ten game skid earlier in the week with a 3-0 win at Lincoln but did not have the volleyball g-ds shining on them tonight. The Lady Wolves fell 3-0 by scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-12.
Lindsay Ashby and Breanna Joseph paced Cheyney with six and four kills respectively. Kennetha Wallace and Taniqua Purdie were credited with 4 assists apiece. Akia Harris registered 16 digs in the losing effort.
In the first set the Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead but Cheyney was holding pace and trailed 9-6. ESU then went on a 10-3 run to take control of the first set en route to a 25-10 victory.
In set two it was the Lady Wolves that jumped out to the early lead and midway through the set Cheyney was nursing a 12-10 lead. However, an 8-0 run by the Warriors, gave ESU an 18-12 lead that they would not surrender. Cheyney was able to cut the deficit to four on several occasions but would not get any closer as the Warriors prevailed 25-18.
The third set was all ESU. The Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead and shortly their after owned a 9-2 advantage. The Warriors now own a 6-20/2-13 record while the Lady Wolves fall to 5-21/0-16.
Cheyney's match scheduled for tomorrow against Kutztown has been postponed and will be made up as part of a double header at Kutztown on Friday, November 15. Match time is still to be determined. The Lady Wolves will be back in action next Friday and Saturday as Shippensburg and Millersville invade Cope Hall Gym. Match times are 7:00 pm and 4:00 pm respectively.
