Cheyney University

Purpose
The Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize and pay tribute to the individuals who have given service to the Cheyney University athletic program and the athletic community at large. The Athletic Hall of Fame further seeks to promote a positive image of Cheyney University, the athletic program and recognizing individuals and organizations while featuring former outstanding Cheyney athletes.

Eligibility
Former athletes who graduated at least (10) ten years prior to their date of application or whose class graduated at least (10) ten years prior to the date of application. Also eligible are head coaches, assistant coaches, managers, staff persons and alumni who have made a significant contribution to the Cheyney University athletic program and the community at large.

Nominations - Must be postmarked or e-mailed by March 31, 2019
Nominations to the Athletic Hall of Fame may be made by submitting the name, address and phone number of the potential candidate to: Cheyney University,Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, Box 233, Cheyney, PA 19319 or e-mailed to: halloffame@cheyney.edu

Self nominations will not be accepted. Nominations may be submitted by current or former students or staff.

The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will forward the Data Form to the nominee. The form and additional information must be postmarked or recieved by April 21, 2019 to be considered for the Hall of Fame class of 2019.

 The Committee, upon receiving the completed Data Form and any additional supporting materials, will determine inductees based on data information from all candidates for that year. Any nominees not selected will have his/her name carried over for three years and if not elected to the Hall of Fame during that three year period, nominees will be dropped from consideration and will have to wait two years to re-apply. Special consideration will be given to those nominees who graduated more than twenty (20) years ago.

Nominations received or postmarked after March 31 or Data Forms postmarked after April 21 will be considered for the following year. Voting will take place in the spring of each year for induction in the fall.

Special Awards
The Athletic Hall of Fame may also present an award to individuals or organizations who have contributed to the athletic program. The award is in memory of the former athlete, professor and Hall of Fame Member, Dr. Rufus C. Johnson.

Note: Unless there are extreme circumstances, inductees are expected to be in attendance for the presentation.
