COATESVILLE, PA — Cheyney University men's cross country continued its season at the WCU Golden Ram Invitational on October 10, competing in the men's 4K race at Plantation Field in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
The Wolves were led by Christopher Taylor, who delivered Cheyney's top performance of the meet. Taylor placed 14th overall, crossing the finish line in 15:12.0 with an average mile pace of 6:06.9. His effort gave Cheyney a strong front-running performance against a field that included West Chester, Lincoln, Medgar Evers, DeSales, Delaware Valley, and unattached competitors.
Kimani Smith followed for the Wolves, finishing 19th overall with a time of 16:30.9 and an average mile pace of 6:38.6. Smith continued to provide Cheyney with steady production, giving the Wolves a second finisher inside the top 20.
Cheyney also received a completed race from Aaron Chestnut, who placed 25th overall in 18:18.4 while averaging 7:21.9 per mile. With three runners finishing the 4K course, the Wolves gained another opportunity to build race rhythm and competitive experience as the season progresses.
Although Cheyney did not record a team score, the meet provided another developmental step for the program. Taylor and Smith helped establish the Wolves' pace near the middle of the field, while Chestnut added another completed mark for Cheyney in the men's race.
West Chester won the men's 4K team title with a score of 15, followed by Lincoln at 51 and Medgar Evers at 80. West Chester's Wyatt Nelson won the individual race in 12:39.0.
Cheyney will look to build on its individual performances from the Golden Ram Invitational as the Wolves continue working toward improved pacing, endurance, and consistency throughout the cross country season.
