Lincoln, PA. – Cheyney University volleyball, dropped the season opener to rival Lincoln University of Pennsylvania in straight sets on Wednesday night inside Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
The (2-0) Lions recorded the first ten points of the match en route to a 25-8 victory in the first set. The (0-1) Wolves kept the second set close and only trailed 8-4 at one point, but Lincoln pulled away for a 25-10 triumph in set #2.
Cheyney held fast in the third set and following a
Kennedy Jones (Havertown, PA) ace pulled within 13-9, but after the teams exchanged side outs, Lincoln then reeled off eight consecutive points, to take a commanding advantage, eventually closing out the match 25-14.

The young Wolves with newly appointed Head Coach Ramona Riley-Bozier, had difficulty returning serves against the Lions, who racked up a school record 26 aces on the evening.
Cheyney opens the home portion of the season on Saturday September 10, at 1 PM, inside Alfred Cope Hall, vs Penn State Lehigh Valley.
