CHEYfNEY, Pa. - Cheyney defensive back Esaie Batoula intercepted a pass on the first West Chester University drive of the game, but the Cheyney offense game the ball right back to the Golden rams on the next play on a fumble at its own five-yard line, leading to an early score and propelling the visitors to a 55-6 victory on a gorgeous Homecoming Saturday afternoon inside a sun soaked O'Shields-Stevenson Stadium.
Cheyney (1-7, 0-5 PSAC E) broke a ten quarter scoreless drought, when quarterback Dominick Trautz connected with R-Fr. Brandon Joyner on a 45-yard touchdown pass down the right sideline with :41 left in the third quarter.
The Golden Rams (6-2, 4-1 PSAC E), bolted out to a 20-0 lead after the first quarter and finished the afternoon with a 514-111 edge in total yards.
Trautz, threw for 126 yards and his 11th score of the season, the touchdown was Joyner's third of the season.
Samuel Anojulu recorded his second career interception in the second quarter and registered four solo and two assisted tackles.Keyson Dingle made three tackles for a loss and finished with four solo and thee assisted tackles. Batoula added three solo and four assisted tackles to his first quarter interception.
Cheyney heads on the road for the final time in 2017 when it takes on Millersville on Saturday October 28, with the kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM.
