Whitley-Duncan Nets a Career High 34 to Lead Lady Wolves to Victory

Kia Whitley-Duncan scored a career high 34 points to lead Cheyney (4-17:4-8) to a 73-62 to Mansfield (0-22:0-12). The victory was Cheyney's first road win of the season. The Lady Wolves last road win was at Mansfield last season. Whitley-Duncan shot an impressive 13-21 from the field and 4-7 behind the arc to spark the Lady Wolves. Destiny McFarlane led all players grabbing a career high 16 rebounds.

The Lady Wolves found themselves trailing 8-6 after the first seven minutes. Cheyney then rallied and went on a 23-2 run over the next 10:30 minutes to take control of the contest. The Mounties ended the half on an 8-2 run but it was Cheyney that owned a 31-18 lead at half-time.

The Lady Wolves were able to stretch the advantage to 28, 52-24 after Whitley-Duncan drained a three-pointer at the 12 minute mark. Mansfield was able to mount a comeback but the Cheyney lead never got below double figures.
Mansfield's Jena Matter and Katie Fitzpatrick each recorded double doubles. Matter netted 12 points while hauling in 13 rebounds while team mate Fitzpatrick tallied 16 points while grabbing 13 rebounds.

Cheyney will look to make it two in a row for the first time this season on Wednesday night. The Lady Wolves host Kutztown. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
